For most of my life, I viewed the Bible as a set of rules or stories too complex and outdated to resonate with modern life. Like many, I leaned on so-called "experts" who seemed to have the answers but I felt disappointed, which in turn lead to more fear and confusion. But then I realised something revolutionary:
the Bible is a self-help book—one of the most profound ever written.
But more importantley most people look to God, like those gurus with all the answers, when the secret is to allow God to stand by yourside, to carry the heavy load and be guided by God's love, which God shows through the practice of faith and self love.
God created man in his own image - If God is love then so are you - Deny God and you Deny Yourself
I guess the Beetles were onto something "All you need is Love".
The key lies in how you approach it. Read the Bible literally, and it may trap you in fear and dogma. But read it as a metaphorical guide, and it reveals timeless principles for personal growth, resilience, and inner peace. When I embraced this perspective, I stopped seeing God as a distant judge and began to understand God as a source of wisdom and guidance rooted in love and purpose, think of God as the best mentor you could ever imagine.
STOP FOR A SECOND
Close your eyes and say the word "God" and see how your body feels, then say "Love" and see how your body feels.
I will let you draw your own conclsuions from that little exercise.
But every hero has a villain, introducing the next profound insight.
Shortly after this new awakening if you will, I encountered "Outwitting the Devil" by Napoleon Hill. In this groundbreaking work, Hill explores the concept of "drifting"—a state where fear and doubt keep us stuck, preventing us from fulfilling our potential. The "Devil" in this context isn't a mythical being but rather the embodiment of our fears, procrastination, and limiting beliefs.
Hill’s message is clear: when you let fear control your decisions, you become a prisoner of your own mind. But when you cultivate faith in yourself and a clear purpose, when you embrace the mastermind you can outwit the forces holding you back. These lessons struck a chord with me, reinforcing the idea that success starts with taking control of our thoughts, feelings, the words you say and how they resonate and by focusing on what truly matters, you start to notice life changes, this is the root to how my clients make changes they never thought possible.
In Hill's book Think and Grow Rich he says “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand.”
Often we look to others for the answers and when we don't have that support, fear drops in, we drift and the Devil takes hold.
When you are not ready to trust someone to help, when you don't have the support of others, there is another option.
Regardless of your belief system, we all need guidance and support to stay grounded and move forward. This is why I want to introduce you to a transformative concept that has personally helped me regain control and clarity when maybe I haven't had the support I needed, it's called The Four Mentors of Your Mind.
This immersion, which I share alongside my Positive Mindset Webinar, helps you identify and strengthen the voices in your life. The Four Mentors represent aspects of your internal and external support system, designed to help you overcome fear, doubt, and negativity.
If you’re ready to take back control of your mind, stop drifting and access a higher power who can help align your life, regardless of your belief system. I encourage you to explore this free resource by clicking the link below.
The advice I would give myself today is simple: stop waiting for someone else to show you the way. The path to a fulfilled and empowered life begins with understanding who you are, silencing the voice of fear, and surrounding yourself with mentors who uplift and inspire you.
You have the tools within you—all you need is the courage to use them and maybe if you are struggling someone who knows how to unlock them.
