If you had told me years ago that failure was just the universe directing you towards greatness, I would have rolled my eyes, called you an idiot and kept bitching and moaning about how unfair life was and that it was everyone else’s fault.
Now I still bitch and moan but quickly shift my perspective towards being grateful for each experience I have so I can learn the lesson
What is happening in your life and what is the lesson?
What’s the plan?
Upon graduating a father gave his son a gift, the gift was not any gift it was a Lamborghini.
The trouble was the car was not in great shape, dirty, dusty, it needed some work.
Not wanting to feel ungrateful the son plucked up the courage to ask his father what he should do, the car was drivable but not in great condition, so the father said:
“Son this is now your car so you can either make good of the gift or pass it on to someone else”.
The son asked “But if I should sell it, who should I sell it too?”
His father advised he go to the local second hand car dealership, so the son did.
The dealership advised that they do not normally buy such cars but given the condition, they offered him $10,000
The son knowing in his gut that the car was worth more than that, he declined and went back to his father to tell him.
His father then advised he went to the local pawn brokers.
Again the son took the car and the pawn brokers who offered even less money, because they had nowhere to store it and did not really know it’s value.
The son once a gain declined the offer and was sad, because although he did not want the car, he knew it had some value, so he went back to his father to ask for advice once more.
This time his father gave him a telephone number of the Chairman of the Lamborghini Owners Club.
This time the son wasn’t sure, he had been turned down by a second hand car dealership and a pawn brokers, going to someone so high up and associated with Lamborghini would be such an embarrassment.
His father however insisted, so the son tentatively called the number.
A man answered and the son explained his story and the Chairman asked if he could send over some photos including all the car details.
Not expecting anything the son sent the email and within minutes the Chairman called him back.
His voice was shaky and excited – He explained the car the son had been given was a one off car and was a very rare find. Although it needed a lot of work the Chairman himself said he would buy it for $1, 000,000.
The son’s heart sunk, with joy he accepted and with the money was able to buy the car he truly desired, plus he never needed to worry ever again.
The story here is quite simple.
The value of something depends on the desire a person has for that object.
The value you place on yourself changes dependant on the environment in which you speak your truth and the people round you who support you.
We are all humans with a gift that we must value, the key is unlocking not only the gift, but the environment in which that gift is valued the most.
What’s the plan for you?
How are you creating the right environment to become the best version of yourself?
Who is supporting you to make that change?
Where are you investing your time and energy?
